Learning from Blogging
"Too much energy is expended on implementing too many things, as opposed to narrowing our focus and getting to that transformative stage in our learning." This quote and the process of blogging will hopefully lead me in the direction of reflection and critical thinking. I feel as though we live in a world where we as teachers are told that we must know all the new teaching strategies. We need to be doing this and that, and then once we establish how to do one thing, that thing is now obsolete and we must learn something new. I think that blogging will help to gather, organize and focus on my abilities as a teacher and the steps and strides that I have made in my teaching career instead of focusing on the negatives.

I love the idea of looking for the positives. So often on the internet it is about the negative, and what we (especially as educators) are doing wrong. But we are all doing things right, and we need to celebrate those things and share them with others. We obviously also want to look for areas of growth, but I really do think that both are important!
ReplyDeleteThis is also great advice for our students - just as we are constantly running to upgrade and keep up with the changing strategies and technologies, we are teaching them skills to prepare them for a world where their future career may not yet exist!
